HOW TO FIND THE MAKE AND MODEL OF MY CAR
The make and model of a car are listed in several locations. How to locate yours is given here:
On Your Car
Your vehicle’s back should bear the name of the maker on one side and the model on the other. Additionally, your vehicle typically has the manufacturer’s logo on the front and back.
Owner’s Guide
The owner’s manual’s cover typically lists the vehicle’s make and type. Alternatively, it can be located in the first few pages.
Identifying Information
On both documents, the make and model of your car are clearly displayed.
Use the vehicle’s Number to identify it (VIN)
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s VIN Decoder website allows you to input your VIN. Your car’s make, type, and other information will be made public.
The 17-digit VIN is a combination of letters and digits. It is located:
1. Where the dashboard and windshield converge on the driver’s side.
2. On the door frame of the driver’s side
3. Printed on the license of your car
Vehicle History Data
If your vehicle was previously possessed, you can learn its make and model by asking your local Department of Motor Vehicles for a vehicle history report (DMV). The car’s title, VIN, and identifying documents are required.
The vehicle history record includes:
1. History of previous possession
2. Title of the car Speed readings
3. Liens that are still owed on the car
4. Past servicing
