Types of Car Door Handles

The majority of modern cars have handles that can be divided into a few broad groups based on how they open and close:

1. The pull-out handle, which is by far the most prevalent on modern cars.

2. Exclusive to the Dodge Viper and Chevy Corvette versions is a flat pushdown handle.

3. Finger handle, called for its shape and seen only on the Mazda Miata.

4. Common pull-up lever found on GM and Toyota vehicles.

5. Push handles were common in the 1980s, particularly on Honda vehicles.

6. Trigger handle, which was typical on Volkswagen, Porsche, and Audi vehicles from the 1970s to the 1990s.
